Chapter 5 — Priya's Rules
Scene 5
As Harika's body recovered, Priya taught her how to care for it safely and comfortably.
She emphasized support clothing recommended by the medical team and explained that comfort mattered more than appearance. After bathing, Priya showed Harika how to wrap a towel securely above the chest before getting dressed, so that she could move around comfortably and privately while choosing her clothes.
There was no pressure to look a certain way.
Priya's rule was simple: “You decide what feels right. I will help you learn.”
Harika began experimenting with hairstyles and everyday outfits. Some days she wore loose home clothes. Other days she tried more traditionally feminine outfits.
One evening, while helping Harika organize her wardrobe, Priya found a sealed envelope hidden among the old medical papers.
Inside was a copy of a consent form.
The signature looked like Hari's.
But Hari had no memory of signing it.
The final page contained a handwritten note:
“Identity may return differently from memory.”
Priya stared at the sentence.
Harika read it over her shoulder.
For several seconds neither woman spoke.
Then Harika whispered, “Priya… what happened to me?”
Priya finally understood that the mystery would have to be solved.
