Chapter 6 — The Choice
Scene 6
The truth did not arrive all at once.
Priya and Harika met the specialist who had overseen the unusual treatment. The doctor explained that several procedures had been performed during Hari's prolonged unconsciousness, and that the full outcome had been impossible to predict.
The doctor also made one point absolutely clear: Harika was now conscious and capable of making her own decisions.
Nothing in the old paperwork could decide her future.
That changed everything.
Harika looked at the clothes hanging in front of her. A pale-blue salwar suit caught her attention.
She held it against herself and looked into the mirror.
For the first time, she did not ask, “What happened to Hari?”
She asked, “Who do I want to be now?”
Priya smiled.
“You don't owe the old Hari anything,” she said. “You can remember him, love him, mourn him, or carry him with you. But your future belongs to you.”
Harika chose the name again.
Harika.
The final twist was not a secret medical explanation. It was a realization: the mystery could explain the changes, but it could never define her identity.
That decision belonged to Harika.
