Chapter 4 — Becoming Sharvari
Days passed. Siva's transformation became more natural.
Madhuri taught him how to walk comfortably in a salwar suit, pin a dupatta, tie his long hair, and use simple makeup. At home, both friends wore girls' outfits every day. Their tiny room slowly filled with bangles, hair clips, sarees, sandals, and nursing textbooks.
The transformation was not instant. There were awkward moments, laughter, tears, and arguments.
One afternoon, Siva finally admitted, “When I am Sharvari, I don't feel like I am pretending.”
Madhuri smiled. “Then don't pretend. Discover who you are.”
She encouraged him to apply for nursing-related work because he had completed basic healthcare training through a vocational course.
The interview brought another twist. The hospital manager saw a composed young woman with long hair, a neat uniform, and a confident manner. Sharvari was hired as a junior nurse.
For the first time since the incident, Siva felt his life moving forward instead of backward.
But suspense returned when two police officers came to the hospital asking about a person connected to the street death.
Sharvari's hands trembled.
The officers asked general questions and left.
Later, Madhuri discovered that CCTV footage from the market had finally been recovered.
The footage showed the two men following Siva.
It showed the confrontation.
It also showed the moment of the fatal blow.
Now the truth might save them—but Siva still had to decide whether hiding was worth carrying the guilt.
