Chapter 3 — The Secret Room
The next morning, Siva could not sleep. Every sound outside made him think the police had arrived.
Madhuri remembered Siva's long hair, his naturally soft features, and the old clothes he had once secretly experimented with. She suggested that, while they waited for the investigation to become clearer, he could temporarily present himself as a woman.
At first Siva refused.
“This isn't a costume. This is me.”
Madhuri answered quietly, “Exactly. Maybe that's why you have been thinking about it for so long.”
She helped him style his long hair and introduced him to salwar suits, sarees, earrings, and simple makeup. At home, they began living only in women's outfits so Siva could practice without panic.
The first time he looked into the mirror dressed as a woman, he expected embarrassment.
Instead, he felt strangely calm.
Madhuri gave him a name: Sharvari.
That night, Siva wrote the name on a blank sheet of paper.
Sharvari.
He did not know whether it was an escape, an experiment, or the beginning of his real identity.
Meanwhile, police released a sketch based on an uncertain witness description.
The face was wrong.
But the long hair was right.
The danger had followed them home.
