Chapter 5 — The Blast and the Silence
The farmhouse was filled with tension. Sujan remained locked inside a room while the criminals argued outside. He could hear them discussing the evidence he had collected and the investigation that threatened their operation.
Before dawn, a sudden explosion shook the building.
The sound was deafening. The walls trembled, the lights disappeared, and smoke filled the room. Sujan was thrown to the floor. Pain overwhelmed him, and the world around him became a blur of darkness and noise.
The criminals who had remained in the farmhouse were caught in the blast. Sujan, badly injured, lay trapped beneath fallen debris.
He tried to move but could barely breathe. His mind drifted toward the orphanage, Lakshmi Amma, and the life he had struggled to build.
When rescue workers finally reached the farmhouse, they found Sujan alive.
He was rushed to a hospital with severe injuries. Doctors worked through the night to stabilize him. His body had suffered serious trauma, and his condition remained critical.
The investigation was temporarily suspended.
In Devapuram, Lakshmi Devi received the news and broke down in tears.
"Please bring him back to us," she prayed.
Sujan remained unconscious, unaware that the village he had tried to protect was now waiting desperately for his return.
