Chapter 25 — Learning to Live Independently
Sowjanya decided that she would rebuild her life one small task at a time.
She began waking early, preparing breakfast, cleaning the courtyard, and arranging flowers before beginning her village work.
At first, the household chores felt overwhelming. She had spent much of her life learning new things, but now she wanted to become fully independent in her own home.
She practiced cooking different dishes. She learned to prepare traditional meals, organize groceries, and manage household expenses.
Every morning, she created a colorful rangoli outside the doorway.
One afternoon, she wore a blue-green floral saree with a silver border. Her long dark hair was arranged in a thick braid decorated with jasmine.
She sat in the courtyard, carefully drawing the rangoli. Her expression showed peaceful concentration and a gentle smile.
A neighbor watched her and said, "You seem happier now."
Sowjanya smiled.
"I am learning to enjoy the small things again."
Her independence was not about proving anything to others. It was about creating a life where she felt capable, safe, and comfortable.
Every completed task reminded her that she could care for herself.
The home that once felt empty slowly became a place of peace.
