Part 2

Later, after Vansh accepted the challenge, his mother thought about how to make the appearance look complete. She decided to start challenge day after tomorrow and do necessary preparations first.

"The clothes alone won't do," she said. "Your hair is long, but not long enough for the style I have in mind."

The next afternoon she called a beautician from a nearby salon to the house.

The beautician looked at Vansh's hair with a smile.

"You've taken good care of it," she said while gently running her fingers through the curls. "It's healthy."

Vansh smiled awkwardly.

"I've been growing it for more than a year."

"That shows."

His mother placed a packet on the table.

"I bought matching curly hair extensions."

The beautician compared the extensions with Vansh's natural hair before nodding in approval.

"The color is very close. Once they're attached, they'll blend in nicely."

Vansh watched quietly as the beautician divided his hair into neat sections. One by one, she carefully clipped and blended the extensions into his natural curls. The process took almost an hour, with his mother occasionally stepping closer to see how everything was coming together.

Finally, the beautician removed the cape and handed Vansh a mirror.

He stared for a few moments.

His curls now flowed well past his shoulders, reaching almost to the middle of his lower back. Because the extensions matched his natural curls so closely, it was difficult to tell where his real hair ended.

His younger sister's eyes widened.

"That's so long!"

Even Vansh had to admit it looked surprisingly natural.

The beautician smiled.

"Most people wouldn't notice they're extensions unless they looked very closely."

His mother nodded with satisfaction.

"Perfect. Tomorrow morning we'll style it properly."

Vansh gently gathered the long curls in his hands, surprised by how much heavier they felt now. He had expected the challenge to be about wearing different clothes. He hadn't imagined it would begin with something as simple as changing his hairstyle.
