Story of Raveen(a)

Raveen, a bright and soft-spoken Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) student, sat anxiously in front of his laptop. He was waiting for the results of a Microsoft Teams interview for a prestigious American software company. His three college mates, Roshini, Priya, and Kavya, all from the Computer Science Engineering (CSE) department, were also waiting for the same. Due to a technical glitch, the cameras didn’t work during the interview, so none of the candidates could see each other.

When the results were announced, all four were elated to discover they had been selected. While the three girls were thrilled to have one another in the same workplace, their enthusiasm dampened slightly when they realized Raveen was the fourth person joining them. They found his slim figure, soft demeanor, and naturally high-pitched, feminine voice odd. Initially, they believed he was mocking them by mimicking their tones, so they kept their distance, forming their own close-knit trio while Raveen often sat alone during lunch breaks.

Their dynamic changed one day when the team was given a critical project with a tight deadline. Despite their efforts, Roshini, Priya, and Kavya couldn’t resolve a crucial technical issue. As the hours ticked away, panic set in. Noticing their stress, Raveen quietly offered to help. Reluctantly, they handed the problem to him. To their amazement, Raveen not only fixed the issue but also optimized the code, impressing the client. The girls’ gratitude began to thaw the ice between them.

From that day onward, the trio started including Raveen in their discussions. Soon, they were sitting together during lunch breaks, sharing jokes, and leaning on his technical expertise whenever needed.

A month later, their client manager, Chaitra, invited the team to her daughter’s puberty function, a grand tradition in her family. Roshini, Priya, and Kavya were excited about the opportunity to witness such a cultural celebration and decided to go shopping for the event. When they mentioned their plans to Raveen, they casually asked him to join them.

Initially, Raveen hesitated. “Shopping isn’t really my thing,” he said nervously. But Kavya insisted, “Come on, Raveen. You’re part of our group now. We need your company.”

During the shopping spree, Kavya playfully suggested, “Why don’t we buy something for you too, Raveen? You’ve got such a slim figure—you could pull off these outfits better than we can!”

The idea sparked laughter among them, but Priya, noticing Raveen’s shy smile, decided to take it seriously. “How about we try it for fun? Let’s see how you’d look as Raveena.” Roshini joined in, saying, “It’ll make Chaitra’s function even more special. You’ll blend right in with us.”

To their surprise, Raveen didn’t object. Instead, he shyly said, “If you think it’ll be fun, I’ll give it a try.”

The girls wasted no time taking Raveen to a beauty parlor. They selected a peach-colored saree with intricate embroidery, matching accessories, and a pair of elegant sandals. At the parlor, the beauticians styled his hair, shaped his eyebrows, and applied subtle makeup that enhanced his delicate features. By the end of the session, Raveen had transformed into Raveena—a charming young woman with grace and elegance.

When Raveena stepped out, the girls were speechless. Kavya exclaimed, “You look stunning! No one would believe you’re not a woman.” Raveena blushed, feeling a mixture of nervousness and excitement.

At the function, Chaitra’s family welcomed the group warmly. The rituals were vibrant and deeply traditional. From decorating the young girl with flowers and jewelry to the family elders blessing her for a prosperous future, every moment was filled with joy and cultural significance. Raveena, blending seamlessly with her friends, participated enthusiastically, drawing compliments from everyone present. It was a day of bonding and newfound confidence for her.

Back at the office, the bond between the four deepened. However, one day, Kavya noticed Raveen looking unusually downcast in the cafeteria. Concerned, she asked, “What’s wrong, Raveen? You’ve been so quiet lately.”

After some hesitation, Raveen admitted, “People at my PG keep mocking me for my voice and behavior. It’s exhausting.”

The girls exchanged worried glances. Priya said, “You don’t have to stay there. Why not move in with us?”

Raveen looked surprised. “But what about your neighbors? They’ll notice.”

Roshini grinned. “We’ll tell them you’re Raveena—our friend and roommate. And if they ask about Raveen, we’ll say you’re her twin brother who visits occasionally.”

Kavya added, “Think about it! You’ll get to be yourself at home and spend more time with us.”

After much persuasion and reassurances, Raveen finally agreed. “Alright,” he said with a smile. “But only if we’re all on the same page.”

Kavya clapped her hands in excitement. “Shopping time!” she yelled, causing heads to turn in the cafeteria.

The group went on another shopping spree, this time to set up Raveena’s new wardrobe. They picked out casual kurtis, leggings, nightwear, and even some accessories. Raveen, feeling more at ease with his friends, enjoyed the experience.

Living as Raveena at the apartment brought new adventures. Raveena joined the ladies in society activities like rangoli competitions, festive celebrations, and even cooking classes. Her natural charm and kindness won over the neighbors, who began treating her like one of their own. The trio’s support made Raveena feel more accepted than ever.

As the days passed, Kavya found herself drawn to Raveena. She admired Raveena’s soft and supportive nature, her willingness to help, and the joy she brought to their lives. One evening, during a quiet moment at home, Kavya decided to express her feelings.

“Raveena,” she began nervously, “I… I’ve been thinking about us. You’re more than a friend to me. I think I’ve fallen in love with you.”

Raveena was stunned but touched. After a moment’s pause, she smiled and said, “Kavya, I’ve always admired you. If you’re sure about this, then yes… I’d be happy to be with you.”

Their relationship blossomed, filled with laughter, shared dreams, and mutual respect. When they decided to share the news with their families, there was initial surprise but eventual acceptance, thanks to the love and understanding between Kavya and Raveena.

Their wedding was a beautiful celebration of love and unity, attended by friends, family, and their supportive colleagues. Raveena, dressed in an elegant bridal saree, glowed with happiness as she and Kavya exchanged vows. The two began their married life with the promise of unconditional support and companionship.

Together, they proved that love transcends boundaries, and with the support of true friends and family, happiness is always within reach. They lived their lives happily ever after, inspiring others to embrace their true selves and cherish the bonds that matter most.
